We are looking for a Senior Computer Support Specialist to provide technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages including printing, installation, productivity applications, electronic mail, and operating systems for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) under the Revolutionary Information Technology Services (RITS) contract.

What will you be doing? 

Supports USACE on-site with several locations to choose from. Provides second-tier support to end-users for PC, server, mainframe applications and hardware. Handles problems that the first-tier help desk support is unable to resolve. Provides resolution and/or escalates to next tier for assistance. Updates and maintains a knowledge base for investigating, diagnosing, and resolving incidents as applicable. May interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems. Maintains currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform technical, operational, and training support to for desktop hardware and software packages.  
  • Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs. 
  • Troubleshoot printer, computer, and peripheral incidents, perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate needed repairs, resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software. 
  • Identify, log and track user issues, software conflicts and hardware device conflicts through IT incident ticketing system. 
  • Escalate more complex problems to Senior Level. 
  • Provide expert technical knowledge.  
  • Maintain currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise. 

Requirements: 

  • Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. 
  • AA/AS degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. 
  • 6+ years of professional, applicable experience.  
  • Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level I (examples include: A+ CE, Network+ CE, SCCP, CCNA-Security certifications).  
  • Must obtain appropriate DoD 8570 IA Computing Environment Certification within 6 months of employment.  
  • Experience supporting Windows 10, and MS Office 2013, MS 365.  
  • Experience using Remedy or a similar ticketing system.  
  • Must have valid driver’s license. 
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday; 8-hour shift between 6AM and 6PM local time. After hours support may be required on an infrequent basis. 
  • Strong analytical and follow through skills.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language. 
  • Ability to coordinate and get cooperation from multiple areas within IT to accomplish assignments.  
  • Ability to work well independently on defined tasks.  
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

We are looking for a motivated, career and customer oriented Senior Network Engineer to be part of a team of technical experts performing network related tasks required for deploying IT infrastructure in support of projects at both enterprise and local site levels within the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) environment. Network Engineer support under the Revolutionary Information Technology Services (RITS) contract will be in accordance with (IAW) Department of Defense (DoD), Army, and USACE Office of the CIO G6 policies and procedures.

What will you be doing? 

Support USACE at the Portland District building in support of network engineering services and infrastructure upgrades throughout the Northwest Division area of responsibility. Up to 50% travel within the state of Oregon may be required. Telework for the remaining time is allowed. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical expertise and perform network related tasks required for deploying IT infrastructure in support of projects at both the enterprise and local site levels within the USACE Office of the CIO(OCIO)/G-6 environment in accordance with DoD, Army, and USACE OCIO/G-6 policies and procedures.  
  • Provide network engineering and technical services required to design, model, test, pilot, and implement the systems and infrastructure needed to deliver voice, video, data and other services, IAW established architectures, security standards, as well as the System Engineering Management Plan.  
  • Configure network to ensure highest security and efficient flow of data.  
  • Provide advice, assistance, investigation, coordination, and implementation services for improving or extending existing network solutions, or implementing emerging solutions.  
  • Implement and document design standards, and establish appropriate interfaces that best fulfill interoperability and mission requirements, designing, recommending, and executing configuration of all network and communication equipment, facilities, and services.  
  • Determine specifications for and manage the cost analysis, purchase, testing, installation, support, and quality assurance review of network communication systems and platforms. 
  • Monitor overall network performance, assessing gaps and overlaps, and analyzing and implementing process models for network optimization. 
  • Analyze network traffic and bandwidth needs, and provide capacity-planning solutions. 
  • Support incident detection, network security functions, and problem resolution. 
  • Plan and oversees execution of network installations of system hardware and software upgrades.  
  • Manage installs, moves, adds, changes, and de-installs, while ensuring compliance to the instituted change management process.  
  • Plan and execute backups and recovery operations.  
  • Direct or execute compilation and maintenance of network records and documentation of network configuration, development, and maintenance schedules, policies, and procedures.  
  • Provide guidance and status updates to leadership regarding issues that could impact services, and interfaces with vendors to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. 

Requirements: 

  • Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. 
  • Must have a current CASP+ or CISSP certification. 
  • Must have a minimum of 15 years of IT experience in roles with progressive responsibilities.  
  • Must have 8-10 years of overall experience as a hands-on Senior Network Engineer for a very large global enterprise network. 
  • Experience producing government documentations such as systems requirements, systems architectures, systems security plans (SSPs), network topology diagrams and design diagrams. 
  • Experience developing low level network design documentation and architecture diagrams. 
  • Experience supporting a large enterprise network.  
  • Experience following a structured engineering framework. 
  • Ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment 
  • Ability to work in a matrixed and collaborative environment 
  • Requires exceptional oral and written communication skills 
  • Capacity to gain a thorough knowledge of the relevant specialty area 
  • Willing to continuously update personal IT skills and knowledge.
